Reinsurance Underwriting Analyst

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join us in an entry-level role supporting our underwriting function. As an Underwriting Analyst, you'll play a key role in supporting our reinsurance underwriting team. Your responsibilities will extend across data management, policy processing, presentation building, and administrative support. This is a great opportunity for someone with a business or quantitative background and strong analytical skills to learn about underwriting in a collaborative environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Assist with policy issuance and booking to ensure accurate and timely processing.
Perform data entry and conduct basic analysis using Excel to support underwriting and business decisions.
Create PowerPoint presentations to communicate underwriting results and portfolio trends.
Prepare reports using internal database systems for internal and external use.
Monitor premium payments and follow up on outstanding payments to ensure timely collection.
Redact and prepare documents for client distribution.
Maintain file directories, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and properly categorized.
Learn the fundamentals of reinsurance underwriting through hands-on mentorship from senior team members to advance in the field.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE HAS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Math, Statistics, Engineering, or related field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Professional, and aptitude for learning new software and systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A proactive mindset and a willingness to learn and grow within the team
Bonus Points For:
Prior internship or coursework related to insurance, finance, or data analysis
Experience preparing reports and presentations for internal or external audiences

LOCATION:
Downtown Toronto, hybrid office/remote
Sutton currently operates under a hybrid work structure. Employees are expected to work in our Toronto office three days per week.
